THE PROBLEM
Due to dirty, dingy oil stained concrete automobiles would go into the
car wash out of alignment with the car wash equipment. The result would
be damage to the car wash equipment, expensive repair bills and extensive
down time. Customers become aggravated with the car wash being closed
so often and take their business elsewhere. Car washes are extremely hostile
environments for concrete and for coatings. The extensive exposure to
hot water, chemicals, soaps, waxes and the expansion and contraction from
weather extremes makes this a very hostile environment. One of the largest
application companies in the Midwest advised us to "stay away" from this
application. "It is doomed to fail." |

THE SOLUTION
The car wash was first pressure washed to remove surface materials,
and then EZKleen #1 was applied. The results are stunning; yielding
a concrete surface that looks freshly poured. Once cleaned, the concrete
was sealed with ClearClad sealant, which will keep water, soaps, waxes
and other materials from penetrating the concrete. Finally, to keep
cars in alignment during the entry to the car wash, yellow striping
of Ceramshield was applied according to BP Amoco specifications. Since
Ceramshield will never fade and the concrete will never absorb foreign
debris, the customer has a long-term solution to a continual problem.
Ceramshield forms a molecular bond with the concrete and can never chip,
flake or peel. The only way to remove the Ceramshield is to remove a
top layer of the concrete itself. BP Amoco has had Environmental Coatings
perform this same application in over twenty car washes in the Mid States
Business Unit and they have virtually eliminated car strikes and damaged
equipment. Concrete restoration is a huge benefit to this customer.
