No.4 Brick Cleaner
Uses no acids and does not etch or harm concrete and stone surfaces.

A BRICK CLEANER FOR CLEANING AND PRESERVING VERY DIRTY POLISHED STONE, UNGLAZED BRICK, FLAME FRACTURED GRANITE, FLAGSTONE, AND SLATE, AS WELL AS GLAZED TERRA COTTA, UNGLAZED CERAMIC TILE EASILY AND ECONOMICALLY.

EZKleen #4 is the most controlled formula of EZKleen. It is for use on what are both the easiest to clean and most sensitive types of masonry. The difference between it and the other formulas of EZKleen is that all the surfaces EZKleen#4 is recommended to clean are time sensitive. This means EZKleen is not permitted to dry on them and, while cleaning, an exposure time must be maintained.

Wide Range of Surfaces
Because EZKleen #4 is the formula of EZKleen for time sensitive surfaces, a large number of interior and exterior surfaces are recommended for cleaning with it. Of these, though, brick is cleaned the most. Furthermore, EZKleen #4 is the only formula of EZKleen that should ever be used on polished stone.

Easy to Use
EZKleen #4, like all formulas of EZKleen, does the work cleaning. It only needs to be applied, given time to work and rinsed with water. The reason EZKleen #4 is not allowed to dry on time sensitive surfaces has nothing to do with its formula but, rather, is because of the surface. If the surface, you are cleaning, is one EZKleen #1,2 or 3 is recommended to clean, then EZKleen #4 is allowed to dry on it, and conversely, if the surface is one EZKleen #4 is recommended to clean, then EZKleen #1,2 or 3 are not allowed to dry on it.

Patch Test
Before using EZKleen, on the surfaces EZKleen #4 is recommended to clean, it is necessary to do a patch test. This determines its suitability, which formula to use and an exposure time. Start with EZKleen #4, first. It almost always works best. However, if it fails to completely clean, test the next lowest formula #, working downward toward EZKleen #1.

Test by applying a small amount of EZKleen to an inconspicuous area. Do this by pouring some into a plastic dish and putting it on with a paintbrush. EZKleen starts working immediately, and on the easier to clean surfaces EZKleen #4 is recommended for use, it usually completes cleaning quickly. Rinse EZKleen off, between 1 and 20 minutes, after applying and allow the test area to dry. If the surface is a completely clean and no whitish colored blush or frosting appears on the surface, use the patch test time to do your cleaning. If a whitish haze or cast does appear on the surface, then repeat the patch test, using a shorter patch test, until none does. If desired, several patch tests, of differing time lengths, can be simultaneously performed to speed up the process.

Warning: Though occurring infrequently, the white haze or frosting, EZKleen causes on time sensitive surfaces, is not a residue but actually forms as a part of the surface. For this reason and because the only way to remove it is to abrade it off, preventing the frosting from forming is the primary concern when cleaning time sensitive surfaces with EZKleen.

Problems
If a patch test fails to clean at all, it is probably because a sealer or varnish is preventing EZKleen from working. In this instance, strip the surface using EZKleen Coating Remover or another quality paint stripper first and then repeat the patch test.

Technical Data

Appearance/Odor: Cloudy appearing solution with slight dull odor
Packaging: Available in cases of 4x1 gal. plastic bottles, 5 gal. plastic pails and 55 gal. plastic drums.
Temperature Range: Becomes less effective as temperature get colder, and is unsuitable to use below 45° F.
Coverage: 250 to 800 sq. ft./gal. can be expected depending on the porosity and condition of the surface.
Storage/Shelf Life: Keep containers sealed when not in use, and store in a cool dry place. Appearance of material darkens over time, but shelf life is indefinite when properly stored.

Precautions
Adjacent areas must be properly protected when using this product. Though harmless to most building surfaces, the damage EZKleen causes to glass, soft metal and glazed ceramic finishes (like those on tile and porcelain) is considered permanent. Cover all nearby windows and aluminum with EZKleen Peel Clean® Plastic Strippable Coating or thick plastic sheeting and plastic tape, and if unsure, whether EZKleen causes damage, test surfaces first or simply cover them. Also, protect vegetation. EZKleen turns foliage brown on contact, and if drawn up through plants’ roots, it dehydrates and can kill them. Cover plants with plastic sheeting to keep concentrated EZKleen off foliage, and protect roots by either containing the rinse or trenching it away.

Application
Because EZKleen is not allowed to dry and an exposure time must be maintained, while using it on time-sensitive surfaces, the cleaning is done in sections.
1) Apply EZKleen to a controlled area that is dry and the size of which the material can be quickly rinsed off. Use a brush, roller or sprayer and thoroughly wet the surface.
2) Allow time for EZKleen to work.
3) Rinse the loosened grime from the surface, using the exposure time determined by your patch test. On floors, the best way to do this is using an auto scrubber, but if one is not available, surfaces can be flood rinsed and wet vacced. Out of doors, high-pressure water is the easiest, most convenient way to rinse EZKleen.
4) After completing rinsing, proceed to the next controlled area, and repeat the procedure. Continue process until cleaning is complete.

Neutralizing
If impractical, cleaning in sections, large areas can be done by neutralizing the cleaner. Do this by preparing a mixture of ½ lb. soda ash per gallon of water and apply it at the time the cleaner is supposed to be rinsed. Use only enough material to make it bubble up and then stop. Once neutralized, the cleaner is inactive, and you can rinse treated surfaces at your convenience.

Spraying on EZKleen
Spraying is a perfectly good way of applying EZKleen. However, it must be done in a wet, soaking fashion, taking care to avoid wind drift. A pump up sprayer or low-pressure electric prep pump (50 to 60 psi), outfitted with a saturation nozzle (fan shaped spray) works best for this operation. Do not run EZKleen downstream through a pressure washer, because this dilutes it nor by applying it with a low-pressure airless sprayer, because they atomize solutions.

Limitations
Though EZKleen cleans virtually anything which affects the appearance of stone & brick. It is not designed to remove graffiti or paint, nor will it remove some types of stains that occur on masonry. Graffiti and coatings can be removed using EZKleen DBX® or Coating Remover® paint stripper formulas, and Environmental Coatings also has several stain removing products.
CAUTION: Never use EZKleen to clean grouting on ceramic tile floors. Environmental Coatings has another product called CSP® Safe Grout Cleaner for this purpose. On marble tile floors, however, EZKleen #4 cleans grouting beautifully without etching the marble.

Safety
Wear rubber gloves, safety goggles and ventilate enclosed areas when using EZKleen. If it gets on skin or into eyes, rinse off immediately with water. See Material Safety Data Sheet for more detailed hazard evaluation and safety information.

Environmentally Safe
EZKleen is readily biodegradable and releases no V.O.C.s. When used properly, it poses no threat to the environment. Dispose of all wastes safely according to federal, state and local regulations.
